Velma E. Gowan, age 98, of Pine Hill, AL., died March 12, 2011 at her home. She was born April 12, 1912 in Arlington, AL. Mrs. Gowan retired after working for 15 years as an LPN at Thomasville Hospital. She was a member of the Sunny South Baptist Church and was member of the Lady Gideons.

She is survived by four daughters, Judith L. Gaddy of Morgan City, LA; Peggy L. Chance of Selma, AL; Bobbie L. Parker of Sunny South, AL; Jeanette Lowry of Foley, AL; brother, Jesse (Mildred) Englett, Jr. of  Orrville, AL.; sister, Edith E. Hale of Orrville, AL; 13 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 14 great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Sunny South Baptist Church on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 from 1:00 PM until the 2:00 PM service time with Rev. Denny Couturie and Rev. Don Newton officiating. Burial will be in the Sunny South Baptist Church Cemetery.
