A 16-year-old juvenile is in custody after allegedly firing shots at an individual outside the bar Papa’s Place in the 3400 block of Moores Ferry Road.

The juvenile, which was not identified by police, has been charged with reckless endangerment and carrying a concealed weapon. He is currently in custody at the county’s juvenile detention center.

According to Selma Chief of Police William Riley, the incident happened outside of the club and that the juvenile, reportedly did not make it inside the club.

“We did make an arrest and we really want to thank the work of the security there who identified the shooter and likely saved lives,” Riley said.

Riley said security personnel at the bar noticed the juvenile outside and noticed he had a weapon. They then made contact with the Selma Police who arrived to take the suspect in custody.

“That is the kind of working relationship we need,” Riley said. “Those folks did a good job in contacting us as quickly as they did. They should be applauded.”
