The Little Lamb Consignment Sale has been changing the lives of young mothers and their children for more than 13 years and now, its time to do it again.
The spring sale, scheduled for March 18 from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. and March 19 from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the Old National Guard Armory, offers baby beds, strollers, car seats, baby clothing, baby toys, maternity clothing, shoes, DVDs and video cassettes to name a few.
So far, the organization has donated more than $60,000 to local charities. Lori Ann Combs, member of the Little Lamb Council, said the sale is all about “children and the family.”
“When we look at different places to give money to,” Combs said. “We look to see who is focused on helping out children or families.”
The Little Lamb Sale works by having sellers register their goods to be sold. Each seller will then be given a number that goes on every price tag of each item being sold. If a customer buys an item from a seller, 75 percent will then go to a seller after sales.
The remaining 25 percent of the proceeds are divvied up and later given to local charities, such as the Selma-Dallas County Public Library, Selma Area Food Bank, Sav-a-Life, DHR Foster Parents, the Salvation Army and Birmingham’s Ronald McDonald House.
Eleanor Nichols has worked with the program for more than eight years.
“It helps so many people financially,” Nichols said. “The public can give their unwanted clothes to the sale and then turn back around and shop. It’s a win-win for everyone.”
Some of this year’s sponsors include American Apparel, Blue Ox Equipment & Supply, The McHugh Wildlife, Sears and DS Wilson Enterprises Inc.
All sales are final and the program accepts cash only. For more information call 875-7121.
