It’s time for the president to face reality

Dear Mr. President,

I had hoped to write a Post-Nov. 2, 2010, letter to you, reviewing the results of that most significant election which resulted in the House being taken over by the Republicans, thanks in great part to the Tea Party. Unforseen circumstances have prevented me from writing until now.

You have correctly characterized that liberal defeat as a “shellacking,” but the trouble is, Mr.President, you have been acting like this huge conservative victory never happened. Thus far, you have refused to face up to the reality of just how fiscally damaging our enormous debt and budget deficits have become and the obvious need for huge spending cuts.

Since November, we have seen tremendous turmoil and violence deveolp in the Mideast, regime change and oil prices that have reached $100 per barrel. Some media people are suggesting that gas prices could reach $5 per gallon. We have huge oil resources in America, but you have banned drilling in the Gulf, and you foolishly insist that solar and windmills are the answer to our energy.

Recent developments in Egypt and Libya have placed our future relationship with Egypt in doubt, and there is concern that Libya, under the brutal dictatorship of Moammar Gadhafi is about to have a civil war between the opposition and supporters of Gadhafi.Your very passive support for those protesting in favor of freedom and a democratic form of government has been most disconcerting.

You and your liberal friends in Congress, Mr. President, were repudiated by the American voters in November because of your failed leadership and policies. Listed below are some of your failures thus far, in my opinion:

Instead of spending an enormous amount of time on Obamacare, an issue rejected by the majority of voters and two federal judges, you have failed to add more jobs—a promise unfulfilled.

We now face a scary energy crisis. We need to start drilling for oil and building refineries now rather than focusing on solar energy and windmills, the wrong solutions.

You have failed to protect our borders re: illegal aliens and drug cartels. One of our border security agents was recently murdered by drug criminals. You have sued Arizona for trying to adhere to a federal law. This is outrageous. Also, why are you treating Israel, our one true and loyal friend in the Middle East, as if it is an adversary?
