Vandals bust out windows

The Rev. James Henderson woke up Tuesday to a sight not many people care to see.
Some of the windows of his Chrysler 300 had been destroyed by vandals throwing railroad rocks and pieces of pavement. So, Henderson called the police and quickly found out he was not alone. He was the seventh person to find such destruction that morning.
“That’s just not right,” Henderson said. “It’s really not something you want to see first thing in the morning.”
In all, 10 other cases were reported to the Selma Police Department that morning. All similar to that of Rev. Henderson.
“We believe it was juveniles that were riding through the area being mischievous and just throwing the rocks,” Selma chief of police William Riley said. “We had several reported incidents of it that morning, but none since then.”
Riley said officers were interviewing local residents in the Riverview area where most of the complaints came from to find out more information, but nothing had come out yet.
“We have been asking around at the schools, seeing if some of the kids have been talking about it,” Riley said. “We are going to keep checking because this type of act is just senseless. It’s dumb and its sad that individuals would engage in this type of behavior which causes such an inconvenience.”
Henderson, who believes he car has suffered close to $2,400 in damages, said he just wanted the community to know in order for people to be on the lookout down the road.
“There is too much of this stuff in the city and no one does anything about it,” Henderson said. “Hopefully people can keep a look out for those doing this and we can put a stop to it. There is no place for it here.”
