Larry Donnell Rembert Sr.

Larry Donnell Rembert, Sr., was born April 16, 1968, in Cleveland, OH to the late Johnny Ree Rembert, Jr., and Willie Mae Rembert. He confessed Christ at an early age and joined Truevine Baptist Church,
Cleveland, OH. He later joined Mt. Olive A.M.E. Zion Church, Prichard, AL under the leadership of Rev. John P. Gant.
His educational preparation began in the Dallas County School System. He later matriculated at the University of Alabama Birmingham where he received a B.S. degree in Criminal Justice. Larry dedicated his life to molding young minds as a Para-professional in the Mobile County Public School System and as a supervisor at the Mobile City Parks and Recreation.
Larry, though tall in statue, likewise was his deeds and services which will be a legacy that shall linger in the hearts and minds of many lives that he touched. Larry answered the call on Thursday, January 27, 2011.
He leaves to cherish is memories his wife, Arline Rembert of Mobile, AL; four daughters, Keneisha and Chrystal Perry, both of Selma, AL, Brittney Jackson and Jelisa Hackett, both of Mobile, AL; two sons, Gregory O’Neal Hackett of Boston, MA and Larry Donnell Rembert, Jr. of Mobile, AL; a loving grandmother, Mattie Rembert of Cleveland, OH; four sisters, Melinda Rembert, Shelia (Lynn) Sherman of Selma, AL, Denise Rembert and Barbara Johnson of Cleveland, OH; brother, Darron (Robin) Rembert of Selma, AL; four special grand-kids, Emory and McKenzie McMillian, Gabin Perry of Selma, AL, Brookley Marie Jackson of Mobile, AL; father-in-law, Benjamin Seltzer, Alberta, AL; devoted aunt, Emma Rembert of Cleveland, OH; devoted uncle, Clyde Rembert of Cleveland, OH; six sisters-in-law, Mary (Lovell) Pettway, Sarah (Carlo) Lewis and Theresa Hackett, all of Mobile, AL, Omega Tolar, Atlanta, GA, Darlene (Gregory) Rudolph, Selma, AL, Shekirra Shoemaker, Montgomery, AL; nine brothers-in-law, Eddie Jones, Terry, Samuel, Leo Hackett, Mobile, AL, Ike, Lonnie Hackett, Frederick Hunter, Ben, Johnny (Pheba) Seltzer of Alberta, AL; godmother, Dorothy Pettway, Safford, AL; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, devoted cousins, Patricia (Curtis) Duckworth, Tommy (Sonja) Rembert, Jr., Iarie (Alan) Harper and Takiba Rembert, all of Cleveland, OH; and friends, a special friend, Sam West, Mobile, AL.
His remains will lie in state Friday, February 4, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Small’s Mortuary, 950 S Broad Street, Mobile, AL. Visitation will be held Saturday, February 5, 2011, from 11:00 a.m. until the 1:00 p.m. funeral hour at Mt. Olive A.M.E. Zion Church, 701 Bella Street, Prichard, AL.
