Johnny Washington McManus, of Wingate, NC formerly of Selma, AL, passed away on January 18, 2011.
Johnny was born June 20, 1943 in Union County, NC to the late George and Julia Haigler McManus. He is also preceded in death by brothers,
McManus
Homer and Willie McManus and a sister Mary Starnes.
Funeral services to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, January 21, 2011 at 1PM at Austin Grove Baptist Church, officiated by Reverend Leon Whitley. Burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service.
He grew up in Union County. He worked for Comar Industries in Monroe for 15 years. His job in Textiles took him to Texas, then Meadowcraft Industries in Selma, AL where he retired. Johnny was a huge NASCAR fan, especially of Dale Sr. He loved to watch football.
He is survived by his brother, Raymond McManus; sister, Dorothy Scarborough; special friend, Mary Melton; and nieces and nephews.
