Nancy Bearden Cathey, 55 of Madison, died December 16, 2010.  She was at home surrounded by her family.  Mrs. Cathey was born in February 24, 1955 in Selma. AL to Joe and Edna Bearden.  She was married to Gerald Cathey on March 17, 1984.  She was a Pre-K teacher at Kiddyland Early Learning Preschool.  Nancy was a member of Buckhead Baptist Church where she was the Bible School Director for many years.  She also sang in the choir and played the piano.  Nancy loved the beach and working in her yard.  She will be remembered most for being a great mother and wife.

Nancy is preceded in death by her father, Joe H. Bearden.  She is survived by her mother Edna Bearden, a sister, Judy Newberry and a brother, Joseph Bearden.   Also surviving is a niece, Norma Johnson & Jimmy and son Landon and two nephews, Winston and Jamie Bearden.  Nancy is also survived by her husband, Gerald Cathey and their two sons, Bart Cathey & Samantha and Jed Cathey.  She also has two grandchildren, Taylor and Harlie.  Nancy is also survived by her  mother-in-law, Kate Cathey and the late Sam Cathey, as well as other family.

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 17, 2010 from 6 until 8 pm.  The funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 18, 2010 at 11 am at Buckhead Baptist Church.  Interment will follow at Bethany Cemetery.  Rev. MaCrae Olinger will officiate.
