A lone gunman demanded money from a clerk at the Days Inn late Tuesday afternoon and fled the scene.

It’s uncertain whether the gunman, who authorities say wore a mask, escaped with any money from the hotel on Highland Avenue.

“Right now it’s early in the investigation,” said Selma police chief William Riley.

Authorities are examining a video of the incident, trying to determine a good description of the gunman.

Employees of the hotel were visibly shaken and declined to comment.

Nobody was injured, Riley said.

The police department will release more information once investigators have examined the video tape and closed down the crime scene.
