Mary Muckle Miller Lamar

LAMAR, MARY MUCKLE MILLER, died December 9, 2010. A native of Selma, Alabama, she was born December 27, 1917 to Kate Young and Thomas Hosea Miller, and was a resident of Colorado Springs and Pueblo Colorado most of her adult life. She was a resident of Birmingham, Alabama for the last three years of her life. She is preceded in death by her husband, William Bibb Lamar Sr. and her parents.
She was a graduate of the University of Alabama where she was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. She was a member of the Junior League of Colorado Springs. An avid duplicate bridge player, she was a member of the American Contract Bridge League. She was also a member of the Pueblo Golf and Country Club, and the Episcopal Church of the Ascension in Pueblo, Colorado.
She is survived by her sister, Julia Craig Miller of Selma, Alabama. She is also survived by her children, daughter Mary Kay Lamar Klyce (John) of Birmingham; two sons, William Bibb Lamar Jr. Clara Leder) of Mobile, and Thomas Miller Lamar of Pueblo Colorado; five grandchildren, Kathryn Lane Burns (Steven), George Thomas Lane (Jessica) of Birmingham, Dr. William Bibb Lamar III (Rosa), Clara Leder Lamar Stokes (Claiborne) of Mobile, and Julia Kate Lamar Wahl (Brian) of Birmingham. She had six great grandchildren: Wiley Burns, Kathryn Lamar Burns, Clara Leder Stokes, Thomas Claiborne Stokes, Alexander Ladd Wahl, and William Bibb Wahl.
Graveside services will be held at Old Live Oak Cemetery in Selma, Alabama, Tuesday, December, 14, 2010, at 11:30. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to St. Martins in the Pines Episcopal Retirement Home, 4949 Montevallo Road, Birmingham, Alabama 35210, or a favorite charity.
