The Pickens Plan could save U.S. millions in oil expense

Dear editor,
Over the last few years, the production of oil has steadily decreased, meaning that oil will continue to get more expensive and sooner or later become non-existent. The Pickens Plan is here to help the United States replace imported oils with natural gases. The natural gas would replace the imported oil as a transportation fuel and any other use of imported oils, in addition, create millions of jobs in United States.
There are 85 million barrels of oil produced daily throughout the entire world. Of that 85 million, the United States uses about 21 million barrels. This means that less than 5 percent of the world’s population uses about a quarter of the world’s oil.
In 2008, the United States spent $475 billion on foreign oil alone. Over the next 10 years the United States is expected to spend $10 trillion on foreign oils.
The United States is blessed with plenty of cheap, clean and good quality natural gas. By aggressively moving America’s vehicles from imported oils to domestic gas, we would be saving our environment and rebuilding our economy.
However, the Pickens Plan is not a permanent solution, but it is a step to improving our economy by providing jobs to millions as well as keeping $350-$450 billion dollars a year in the United States
