Dear Editor:

I wanted to say thank you to a lot of people and thought your paper was the best way. The Selma Times-Journal did a touching and appropriate story on Friday, Nov. 5 covering the final ride of Jason Thornton, which took place the day before. That was my husband.

His Brothers wanted to pay tribute to him by escorting him in a procession that showed honor and respect. When I saw the bikers in formation, I was awestruck. We took a trip through the country, Highway 22 to Spring Valley Road to Centenary Road to Highway 219 to Highway 14 to Highland Avenue and back down Highway 22.

I wanted to specifically list the exact route because i want to thank all the people that pulled over when we travelled by. I have always tried to pull over to show respect during a funeral procession, but have never realized until now how it would affect the family of the deceased.

It was a little overhwleming to see all of these people who did not know who he was or what exactly all these bikers were doing in Selma, but they all still stopped to show their respect. It only took a few minutes of their time, but it has touched my heart forever.

Thanks again to all of his Brothers who made sure his final ride was something to always be remembered. Lastly, thank you to everyone who has had us in their thoughts and prayers.

Ashlee Hagan Thornton
