People make poppy drive successful

Dear Editor:

You ran an article for me last week concerning the distribution of Buddy Poppies on Sat. Nov. 6. I would like to thank each location that allowed our members to stand out side of their businesses. They were: Wal-Mart, RaceWay, The Selma Curb Market, Winn Dixie on Highland Avenue and Winn Dixie on Dallas Avenue. I would like to offer a special thank you to the Jr. R.O.T.C. from Southside High School. They went beyond our expectations. They worked very hard and contributed greatly to our success. And a very special thanks to the many people of Dallas and the surrounding counties who helped us to reach and pass our goal. Each year we strive to match last year’s donations and with the help of the caring people of our community we raised over $1600.00 dollars. We will also have Buddy Poppies available at the Veterans Day Service at Memorial Stadium on Thursday. We will be distributing them for donations to our relief fund. Again this fund is used to assist Veterans and their families in need.

Thank you again for the help that you have provided in reaching the people of our area and the help you have given to the veterans. Thank you for assisting the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Ladies Auxiliary. Your help is greatly appreciated.
