Police arrest two on drug charges

An investigation of a disabled vehicle led to two drug arrests by the Selma Police Department.

the area of 400 St. Ann when they came across two male subjects sitting in a disabled vehicle.

“Officers asked the subjects to step out of the car for safety reasons when one of the subjects attempted to run,” Stewart said in an e-mail. “He was immediately taken to the ground and handcuffed.”

Stewart said one of the narcotics officers spotted the subject throw something to the ground before attempting to flee.

Officers discovered a clear plastic bag containing a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana. Officers also discovered a clear bag containing a green

leafy substance in plain view believed to be marijuana on the passenger floor board were one of the subjects was sitting.

Officers also located drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. Selma Narcotics Officers arrested Dwight Sharpe, 22, Selma and Samuel Lee, 20, Selma and charged both with unlawful possession of marijuana first degree and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both were taken to the Dallas County Jail under $202,000 in bonds.
