Moore, 70, was taken into custody Tuesday after the shooting, which began as a domestic disturbance call, according to Selma Chief of Police William Riley.

The victim, who police have declined to identify, was taken to Vaughan Regional Medical Center, and then transported to an undisclosed hospital, authorities said.

Police Detective Sgt. Tori Neely said officers answered a domestic disturbance call mid-morning Tuesday. When they arrived on the scene on Water Avenue, the suspect got into his vehicle and police pursued him. The suspect stopped on Albert Street, about a block from where it intersects with LL Anderson and got out of the Ford pickup.

Neely said the suspect, armed with a rifle with a scope mounted on top, fired at police. Officers returned fire.

At one point, the suspect was in a standoff with officers, who were able to talk down Moore and take him into custody with no further incident.
