Selma police have arrested a 16-year-old male in connection with a shooting Friday in the 1500 block of Martin Luther King Street.
The male is being held at the Juvenile Detention Center. Selma police do not reveal the names of juvenile detainees because their identifications are protected by state law.
Selma police Sgt. Doug Stewart said a 15-year-old male told officers as he walked home from school Friday with a group of friends, several males approached them. One of those approaching the 15-year-old pulled out a handgun and began shooting.
The 15-year-old and his friends ran to keep from being struck.
A 22-year-old male standing on Martin Luther King Street in the 1500 block told officers he heard gunshot and felt pain to his leg. He noticed he had been shot, Stewart said.
