Ask questions, expect answers

Have you felt the change in the seasons coming on? Has your biological clock of sorts felt the ticking of a change coming about?
If so, then you must be feeling the excitement of the upcoming gubernatorial election set for Tuesday, Nov. 2.
Labor Day traditionally starts the most heated part of any gubernatorial race and this year has been no different. Both the Republican nominee Dr. Robert Bentley and the Democratic nominee Ron Sparks were kissing babies and talking jobs at Labor Day events Monday.
They both talked of their job creation plans, their ideas behind developing the state’s infrastructure and how they fundamentally disagree with their opponent on just about everything.
Bentley is crossing the state, visiting festivals and fundraisers, while Sparks is looking to cash in with a fundraiser standing side-by-side with former President Bill Clinton. If you have an extra $1,000 you could join them.
Regardless of party affiliation, the task for voters now is to ask questions and expect answers from the men who want the state’s top political position.
We, as voters, don’t want our elected officials to spew promises for the sake of votes. We want honest forecasts of what they expect to accomplish while in Montgomery.
The next eight weeks are vital to the future of Alabama and should be treated with such importance.
