Morgan Senators travel to Tuscaloosa to open season

SELMA — A new offense has Morgan Academy excited, but its first test will be region stalwart Tuscaloosa Academy this Friday in a game that is less than ideal.
“We lost to them each of the last two years, last year in overtime,” Senators coach Brian King said. “All we can do is hope for the best.”
Morgan has installed a new hybrid wing-T offense, which should provide some confusion for the defense, if everything goes according to plan.
“It’s not an offense not a lot of people see,” King said. “We’ve got a lot of wingbacks and running backs, so it plays well for us. We’ve got motion on every play, and we’re not confined to just running on the inside.”
Players are excited, too.
All-purpose back Jody Glover, who is one of the Senators’ primary men in motion, said the attack has been refined tremendously over the last month.
“It’s really come around,” Glover said. “We’re where we want to be. I definitely think we’re ready to start the season.”
The Senators face Tuscaloosa Academy followed by Prattville Christian, arguably the toughest games on their schedule right out of the gate.
“We’ve got no room for error,” King said. “After those two games, we’ll pretty much know where we stand in the region. I wish we had a few games to adjust, but we’re ready to play.”
