Franklin Eugene Woodruff, Sr.

Franklin Eugene Woodruff, Sr. went to meet his Savior on Monday, August 23, 2010 at his home in Dothan, Alabama surrounded by his family. He was 76 years old.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 25 at Selma Funeral Home in Selma, Alabama from 5pm to 7pm. The Funeral will be at Sister Springs Baptist Church in Tyler, Alabama on Thursday, August 26 at 2 pm with a viewing one-hour prior
to funeral. Officiating the funeral service will be Rev. Perry D. Neal, Rev. Steve Eubanks, and Rev. Truell Hill. Bro. Robert Bayne and Bro. Jim Tate will officiate at the
graveside.
Gene was born July 2, 1934 in Greenville, GA to Ira and Mittie Mae Woodruff. He served in the Army stateside during the Korean War from 1954 to 1956. God called
him into the ministry in 1964. He graduated from Samford University in 1967 and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in 1971 with a Masters Degree in Theology. He
served 33 years as a pastor of several churches in Alabama, Georgia and Louisiana. After his retirement in 2000, he continued to preach until his health declined. He then
moved to Dothan, AL in 2006. He is a member of Memphis Baptist Church, Dothan, AL.
Gene is preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, Greer and Nell Ramsey and three brothers-in-law, Willis Virgil Bruner, George Bush and James Greene.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Norma Dianne Ramsey Woodruff; a daughter, Vicki (David) Turner of Cottonwood, AL; sons, Woody (Melissa) Woodruff of
Prattville, AL, Mark (Cammie) Woodruff of Birmingham, AL and Chad (Kendra) Woodruff of Selma, AL; grandchildren, Deven (Gretchen) Turner, Keith Turner, Jennifer Barnett, Trey (Diane) Woodruff, Cynthia (Davis) McGalliard, Courtney (Chad) Easterling, Julia, Suzy and Lori Woodruff; great-grandchildren, Tripp and Ella
Turner, Parker Turner, Kaylee Barnett, Taylor Chandler, Shelbie and
Macie Woodruff, McKaila and Kennedy Staley, Peyton and Hayden McGalliard and Cheyann Easterling; brothers, Ray (Peggy) Woodruff, Milton (Betty) Wood-
ruff, Frederick (Myrtis) Woodruff; sisters, Dorothy Bruner, Josephine Bush and Barbara Jane Greene; sisters-in-law, Charlene (Rudy) Hayes and Patricia (John) Etheridge and
several nieces and nephews.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Deven Turner, Keith Turner, Trey Woodruff, Davis McGalliard, Chad Easterling and David Atcheson.
Honorary pallbearers will be his deacons from Sister Springs Baptist Church.
