SELMA — Police chief William T. Riley III has created extra patrol details to address the issue of burglaries throughout the city.
During the past several weeks, officers with the Selma Police Department have responded to several burglaries throughout the city, said Sgt. Doug Stewart.
“These burglaries are not only happening at night, but also during the day light hours,” he said.
During the last four days, officers have arrested nine people and charged them with burglary. Citizen involvement aided with some of the arrests, Stewart said.
“We are not asking citizens to become directly involved by attempting to apprehend these criminals, we only ask if you see anything or anyone suspicious near your home or others, you cal 911 and report this activity,” he said.
