Katelee Hagan, 8, only wanted to see “Cinderelmo.”

But after spending time at the Selma Children’s Film Festival, she was delighted to stay and watch more movies.

“I’ve been watching movies that I love,” Katelee said.

She isn’t the only person excited for the three-day film festival.

LaFawnda Watson, Selma Children’s Museum founder and sponsor of the festival, welcomed at least 50 children to each of the movies Thursday at Walton Theatre in the Larry D. Striplin Jr. Performing Arts Center.

“It was just quiet as a mouse in there,” Watson said. “They were all into it.”

After two movies and a steady amount of interested children, Watson is planning for a film festival next year.

Before jumping to next year, there is still time to visit the festival, which ends July 24. Movies begin at 10 a.m. and end around 6 p.m. All movies are rated “G.”

Parents or guardians can watch the movies or spend time in the provided seating area.

Jayla McCoy, 8, is glad to have a place to see movies and looks forward to visiting the festival for the remaining days.

“These are fun movies that we’re watching, so that’s why I’m having fun,” Jayla said.
