The search is on.
Selma City Schools need a superintendent to permanently fill the position Dr. Don Jefferson, interim superintendent, currently holds.
Selma City School Board members agreed to the minimum qualifications and a salary range for the advertisement of the open position.
“We have that in place, which means we can start advertising,” said Henry Hicks Sr., school board president.
Candidates must have at least a master’s degree in administration and supervision or educational leadership from an accredited four-year college or university, three to five years of successful administrative experience in an educational setting and must live in Selma while serving as superintendent.
Although the final salary will be negotiable between the board and candidate, the listed salary range will be $98,000 to $118,500. Former superintendent Dr. Austin Obasohan received $118,500 yearly.
N & P Educational Associates of Guntersville will seek the applicants for the position. All interested parties are to contact this company.
The company also advertises the position for an extended period of time.
“The superintendent job has to be advertised for 30 days, but this consulting form likes to advertise for six weeks,” said Katy Campbell, school board attorney.
