Incumbent Democratic candidate for district attorney for the fourth judicial district Michael Jackson will move onto the upcoming November election for the position.
Jackson is running for his second six-year term. He will run unopposed in November.
Jackson received 62.49 percent, a total of 7,314 votes. Opponent Joe Hagood III received 37.5 percent, a total of 4,389 votes.
“I look forward to continuing the work we’ve been doing,” Jackson said. “We’ve been tough, but we’re been fair.”
An effort he will continue to make priority is combating gangs in Dallas and surrounding counties, making extra effort to bring parents and teachers aboard in the initiative.
“I’ll keep talking about that to get the parents and teachers focused,” Jackson said.
Hagood is one of two municipal court judges for Selma. Hagood was not available for comments.
