As each student of the Selma High School class of 2010 walked or danced across the stage, cheers erupted from the stands of Memorial Stadium.

The 160 students of Selma High and Selma Early College received diplomas for their effort during their time at the schools.

Principal Wanda McCall encouraged students to follow their dreams and aspirations after high school.

“Remember, all things are possible if you never give up,” McCall said.

She also awarded the J. A. Pickard Scholarship to Ashlyn Goodwin, one of the valedictorians.

One of the salutatorians, Maya Rudolph, told her classmates of how she has grown as an individual and a leader.

“I have learned that challenges are opportunities to turn an ‘I think I can’ into an ‘I know I can,’” Rudolph said.

Tammy Jackson-Seay, cousin of graduating student Sherry Jackson, was very proud to be a part of this life cycle event.

“I’m very proud of her because it’s not easy to graduate from high school these days,” Jackson-Seay said. “This is a very important of her life. This is the first chapter of her moving into her adulthood.”
