Erica Slone, advertising director for Selma Newspapers, Inc., publishers of The Selma Times-Journal, Dollar Saver, selmatimesjournal.com and affiliated publications and Web sites, has been named president and publisher of The Madison County Record.
Selma Newspapers, Inc. and The Madison County Record are all part of the Boone Newspapers, Inc. organization of Tuscaloosa. Slone’s successor in Selma will be named at a later date.
“I’ve enjoyed my time at the Selma Times-Journal which makes it difficult to leave,” Slone said. “However, I’m excited about the new opportunity I have ahead of me in Madison. It would have not been possible without the experience I’ve acquired in Selma. I am honored to have been given the opportunity to share my beliefs about what a newspaper is to be for its readers and advertisers. I consider it a privilege to have worked alongside a team of first class professionals who dedicate their lives to producing the best community newspaper in the state and I will miss each member of our Selma Times-Journal family. I will miss many people in this community that have been so kind to me and have made my time here very rewarding.”
While in Selma Slone was a member of the Selma Lion’s Club, served on the International Paper advisory board, YMCA board and was a graduate of the Selma – Dallas County Leadership program.
“Erica has certainly earned this opportunity and we’re proud of her and for her,” said Dennis Palmer, Selma Newspapers’ president and publisher. “In her three years here she served this newspaper and community well by getting involved and working to make a positive difference. The Madison community is fortunate to get her, but she will certainly be missed here.”
Slone begins work in Madison Monday.
