Thomas Towns, Jr.

Thomas E. Towns, Jr., died March 30, 2010 after a long battle with cancer.
He leaves behind his wife Karen Towns; son, Jeremy Towns; daughter; Ara Towns; two grandchildren from his son, Erin Rose and Jesse Towns.
He also leaves two stepsons, Anthony Davis and Aundre Johnson.
Thomas was born in April 24, 1948 in Bronx, New York, son Thomas Towns, Sr. (deceased), and Rosa A. Towns.
He attended school in New York and R &B Hudson High School in Selma, where he was also part of the 1965 Civil Right Marchers.
Thomas entered the Airforce and had a distinguished career, finally retiring after twenty-one years of service, a Master Sergeant.
He also served in Vietnam from 1968-1969.
Thomas moved back to Selma in 1996 as a contractor.
While in Selma he was involved with community causes and improvement, speaking on radio as well as writing articles for the local press.
Thomas was an intelligent, articulate and well traveled man.
His knowledge and wit made him a great conversationalist and great company.
The Memorial Service will be Saturday, April 10, 2:00 P.M. at J.H. Williams &Sons Funeral Home.
