A winter weather advisory is in effect beginning at 4 a.m. Tuesday for the northeast portions of Central Alabama. Dallas County is included in this advisory, according to the National Weather Service in Birmingham.

Snow will begin to fall across the area starting as early as 3 a.m., but will not begin to accumulate until after 6 a.m.

A snow advisory is in effect through 6 p.m. Tuesday. Expect snow amounts to be less than 2 inches with the higher elevations receiving the highest amounts.

There could be a few isolated locations where snow accumulations could be slightly higher than 2 inches, but this is not to be widespread.

Since most locations in the area are not expected to see temperatures below freezing for a long period of time, any snow accumulation should melt rather quickly.

Gusty winds are possible Tuesday mainly along the southeast portions of Central Alabama. Expect sustained winds around 20 mph with gusts as high as 30 mph.
