Municipal Judge Prince Chestnut swore in the two during the ceremony.

“I appreciate the opportunity,” said Officer Massey.

Massey, a lifelong Selma resident, decided to get into police work after a career as an electrician.

He spent the past three years working for FEMA here in Selma.

“I was looking for a new career,” said Massey. “This is where I came.”

Officer Chamberlain has looked forward to this day for all of her life.

“Interest started when I was 8 years old,” said Chamberlain. “Today went by so fast, but you don’t know how it is going to be until you get out on the streets.”
