Southside garners first win

The Southside High School baseball team picked up its first win of the season Friday, 13-1, over Francis Marion High School.

The Panthers are currently 1-4 on the season.

Freshman pitcher Samarkus Jones kept Francis Marion off balance, recording five strikeouts while allowing just four hits in the win.

Wilbert McConico paced the Panther offense, going 4-for-4 with two triples and a grand slam.

He scored three runs and had four RBIs.

Michael Perryman went 2-for-3 with a double. He also had an RBI and scored a run.
