An incident in which several Selma basketball players said they were threatened by Carver players is under investigation by the Montgomery Police Department.

Selma Police Chief William Riley III said after the game Monday night the team went on the bus to a local KFC in Montgomery for a meal. As the team boarded the bus after the meal, several of the players said they saw a car of Carver players.

“Some of them said they had a gun,” Riley said.

Montgomery police spokesman Maj. Huey Thornton did not return phone calls from The Selma Times-Journal.

Selma Schools Superintendent Dr. Austin Obasohan said he had heard about the incident.

“I have not heard anything other than they have been investigating,” Obasohan said. “It’s something we won’t tolerate. We want students and parents to be safe at home and away.”
