The Morgan Academy girls lost to Tuscaloosa Academy 34-17 in Friday night hoop action.

The lady Senators struggled to put shots in the basket in the first half of the game and Tuscaloosa was able to built a 17-point lead going into halftime.

“We played good defense the first half, but we just couldn’t score,” said Morgan coach Robert Andress.

“When you hold a team to 19 points in a half, you think you should be in the game.”

For the Knights it was just another game for the team that is No. 1 in points allowed per game.

“From a defensive standpoint we did a good job,” said Tuscaloosa coach Josh Golden.

“We just have to do a better job passing and taking some open shots,” he added

In the second half Morgan was able to being to close the distance and a 8 -point fourth quarter by April Clark allowed the Senators to close the gap by the end of the game.

“We played about as well as we could have in the second-half,” Andress said.

“I’m proud of how we were able to come out and improve and get some shots to fall.”

Clark led the Senators in scoring getting 10 points to go along with eight rebounds.

Tori Morgan and Ashley Shamblin led the Knights in scoring with 11 points each.

Morgan will have senior night next Monday when they play Wilcox Academy.
