There was disappointment on senior night for the Meadowview Christian School girl’s basketball team.

The lady Trojans fell in a close game 32-29 to the Lowndes Academy lady Rebels.

“There was hustle was there tonight,” said Meadowview coach Will Florence. “We just couldn’t quite get it done.”

The game was never out of hand for either side but a few late shots for Lowndes proved to be the difference.

“Tonight we were able to handle the late game pressure,” said Lowndes coach Jeff Lowell. “We don’t have any seniors and that has been hurting us, but tonight we didn’t panic.”

Meadowview traded buckets back in forth with the Lowndes throughout the first half and only trailed at the break 15-12.

It was much of the same in the third quarter and every Meadowview basket was matched by a basket from the girls from Lowndes.

In the fourth, just as Lowndes had seemingly put the game out of reach senior Adrienne Hitt scored three of her five points to pull back within three before time expired on the Trojans comeback hopes.

“Our shooting percentage is what hurt us tonight,” Florence said. “We encourage the girls to take shots when they are open, but tonight the shots just weren’t going down.”

Katie MacIntyre led all scorers in the game with 12 points for Meadowview Christian and was helped by senior Kayla Kaldor, who had six points for the Trojans.

“I’m proud of the way these girls and these seniors played tonight, we just have to look toward our next game,” said Florence.

That next game will be Friday night in Linden where Meadowview will take on the Marengo Academy Longhorns.
