Severe weather possible in the area Wednesday, Thursday

Selma and Dallas County residents could see some severe weather this week.

The National Weather Service at Birmingham has forecasted possible severe thunderstorms late Wednesday night into early Thursday morning across all of Central Alabama. These storms are expected to contain damaging winds, large hail and possibly isolated tornadoes. The storms are associated with a warm front, which is moving from the southwest to the northeast.

Temperatures are expected to reach a high of 66 degrees Wednesday and a low of 57 degrees Wednesday night. The chance of rain is 50 percent on Wednesday and 100 percent Wednesday night.

On Thursday afternoon additional strong to severe storms will be possible in the area as a cold front moves from the west to the east. The expected high temperature for the day is 72 degrees with a 60 percent chance of thunderstorms, gradually clearing in the evening with a low around 48 degrees.
