Giving all you have

“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?’”

Martin Luther King Jr. said those words while he was on this earth. He lived only 39 years, nine months and 11 days, but in that time he moved people, changed a nation and as a result gave his life for what he believed so fervently for – equality for all.

Dr. King once said, “If physical death is the price that I must pay to free my white brothers and sisters from a permanent death of the spirit, then nothing can be more redemptive.”

His death and life did give life to others. It made some see the injustices going on in America and for African-Americans it gave them a chance to live their lives like everyone else.

While Dr. King was truly a one in a million, there is a way for you to give life – organ donation.

More than 100,000 men, women and children currently need life-saving organ transplants.

In 2008, there were 7,984 deceased organ donors and 6,218 living organ donors resulting in 27,961 organ transplants.

Anyone with the concept of numbers knows that there are a lot of people who never receive that much needed organ or tissue donation.

The decision to donate is for you and you alone to decide, but it is a decision you need to make.
