Ms. McCain died Monday, December 28 in Trinity Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born February 4, 1924 in Selma Alabama to Twig General Duke and Ethel Delane Lawrence Duke. She worked as a receptionist and assistant at Vaughn Memorial Hospital in Selma and in Birmingham for Dr. Sam Fischer . She enjoyed retirement with her family, friends and acquaintances.
She was preceded in death by her brother Twigg Duke and Doris Barton Duke sister-in-law.
Survivors include one daughter Sherry McCain Lowrey and Son-in-law Dr. Russell Harmon Lowrey of Huntsville. Nephew and nieces include David Duke, Susan Chenault, Jeanne Payne and Emily Payton, all of Decatur.
The family would like to thank her dear friend Norman Glass for his friendship during her life and her illness.
A Visitation will be held at Johns-Ridout‘s Funeral Parlor, Southside Chapel on Thursday morning December 31, 2009 from 9AM to 11AM. Graveside services will be held the same day at Live Oak Cemetery in Selma, Alabama at 2PM.
