Veronica Delores Murry, 54, a resident of Selma passed December 13, 2009. Funeral services are scheduled for 1 pm Saturday December 19, 2009 at Helping Hand Bible Ministry Church with Pastor Ralph Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with J. H. Williams &Sons Funeral Home directing.
Veronica worked as a firefighter and as an engineer with the Selma Fire Dept. for 26 years having been the first female firefighter in the state of Alabama. She also had worked as an EMT and served as a dispatcher for Selma’s local 911.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earnest and Dorothy Pearl and an older sister Maggie Jean Bragg.
Survivors include her husband Frank Murry; four children, Ricky Lamar Coleman and TyeDreke Perry of Selma; Jeremy Perry of Jacksonville, NC and Byron (Dana) Murry of Savannah, GA; 10 grand-children, 4 sisters-in-law, 4 brothers-in-law, one uncle, James (Mary) Bragg of Palmdale, CA; 2 aunts, Penny Williams and Belinda (Bobby) Scott of Selma, plus other devoted relatives and friends.
