ELMA — The National Voting Rights Museum & Institute will receive $450,000 in federal funding to preserve its building.

The money also will be used to assist in the restoration and preservation of historical exhibits on the history of voting rights in America.

The project, one of a total of $2,350,000 designated for Alabama, was included in the FY 2010 Omnibus appropriations package by a request from Congressman Artur Davis (D-Birmingham) and passed by the House Friday.
