Help disabled veterans by buying poppies

Dear editor,

It is that time of year again. We will be celebrating Veterans Day on Nov. 11, and it is time for our annual Buddy Poppy drive. The Veterans of Foreign Wars, members of its Ladies Auxiliary to Post 3016 of Selma and the Jr. ROTC of Southside High School will be gathered at locations all around Selma on Saturday, Nov. 14, with Buddy Poppies taking donations. The money gathered for these poppies will be put to good use. It goes into our relief fund, and this fund is used to help disabled veterans, widows, dependents and their families.

You have always done your part with this annual event, so I am calling on you again for help. The Dallas County community really came through for us last year, as we raised about $1, 200 for this program. We are truly grateful for the community support. We ask again that they reach into their pockets and find it in their hearts to help out with our Buddy Poppy Drive.
