James Parten, Sr.

James Edward Parten, Sr. age 70, passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2009.
Mr. Parten served in the United States Army from 1963 to 1965 where he earned an Army Good Conduct Medal and Marksmanship Badges. He was employed by Southland Mower for forty four years and Western/Delta/Scott for thirteen years. He was a great role model and hero to his family.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years Sue Ann Stringer Parten of Selma; son, James Edward Parten, Jr. of Douglasville, GA; daughter, Susan Inez Gibson, of Selma; daughter-in-law, Judy R. Parten, of Douglasville, GA; brothers, Herman Lee Parten, Sr., Leon Parten and Roy Parten, of Selma and sister, Helen Rogers of Wetumpka. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Shane Parten, Alex Parten, Joseph Gibson, Melissa Gibson, Ashley Sharbutt, B.J. Sharbutt, four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Saturday, October, 31, 2009 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Selma Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Sunday, November 1, 2009 at 12:00 p.m. in the chapel of Selma Funeral Home with Rev. Rod Rochester and Rev. Jerry Smith officiating. Interment will follow in New Live Oak cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bobby Spears, Joe Gibson, Joseph Anthony Gibson, James Carr, Billy Rylee and Billy Sharbutt, Jr. (B.J.).
