Mr. Verdell Spears, 62, of Selma, Alabama, died October 27, 2009 at his residence. Services are scheduled for Sunday, November 1, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Zion P.B. Church officiated by Elder Bryan Starks. Burial will follow in Elm-wood Cemetery under the direction of Miller Funeral Service.
Survivors include his wife, Anita Mitchell; father, William (Bill) Thomas; three sons, Berdell Spears, Timothy Spears, and Patrick Hatcher; one daughter, Stacey Spears; nine brothers, Freddy Spears, Johnny Burks, Eddie Burks, William Thomas, Jr., Eddie Thomas, Robert Thomas, Jeffery Thomas, Fredrick Thomas, and Rodney Thomas; four sisters, Geneve Hayes, Edna Fells, Lutricia Wynne, and Deborah Cheese; six grandchildren; one daughter-in-law; and a host of nieces and nephews.
