The Selma Art Guild plans to host one of its largest events of the season on Nov. 13 with Art Walk.

“It’s been a great success having these featured artists for each month,” said Joanna Nichols, a member of the Selma Art Guild.

One featured artist for the event is Mike Handley, an acrylic painter. Handley won the summer show the Art Guild hosted with his painting of wild turkeys, deer and people. Handley’s art will be displayed at the Selma Art Guild building.

Participating businesses are the Selma Art Guild, The Frame Shoppe, Everyman Book Shop, Frames ’n Things and Sturdivant Hall Gift Shop.

The work of Charlie Lucas, known as the Tin Man, will be displayed at The Frame Shoppe and Everyman Book Shop will have a European Mime performing.

“We’ve got two really good people,” Nichols said.

The remaining businesses will be open to the public, but do not have a guest artist.

Nichols encourages attendants to start holiday shopping at the event.

“We’ve been asked to produce slightly smaller work so then people will hopefully buy some for Christmas,” Nichols said. “Bring your guests and show them what Selma is made of.”

According to Nichols, the Selma art community is thriving and supported by the public.

All businesses will be open from 5 to 8 p.m. “Walkers” can go from shop to shop and have complimentary wine and snacks.

The Selma Art Guild was established in the 1970s and is located at 508 Selma Ave.
