Doris Corene Ernest, age 85, a resident of Country Oaks Assisted Living in Thomasville, AL., and former resident of Putnam, AL. died Thursday, October 16, 2009, at Country Oaks Assisted Living.
She was born December 22, 1923 in Marengo Co., AL.
She was a former school bus driver and cafeteria worker and was a member of Putnam Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughters, Nadine (Curtis) Luker, Putnam, AL. and Margaret (Don) Carden, Selma, AL.; son Joe (Lynn) Ernest, Putnam, AL.; sister Nadine Dooley, Las Vegas, NV.; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Bettis Ernest Sr.
Visitation will be held at O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville, AL., on Sunday, October 18, 2009 from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. service time with Rev. Brooks Etheridge officiating. Burial will be in Putnam Cemetery in Putnam, AL.
