UNIONTOWN — Keith routed R.C Hatch’s Bobcats on their home turf Friday night 42-20 in a packed house.

The Bears (3-5), had 30 -yard touchdown runs by Rodney Ellis and Gerald Matthews on their first two possessions for an early 14-0 lead.

Hatch (3-5) finally punched it in the end zone with a few seconds left in the first, but failed to convert a two-point try. Unfortunately for the Bobcats; the score would never get any closer.

The entire second quarter belonged to Keith. It took only three plays for Dwan Lewis to break it down the right sideline for a 13-yard touchdown. Hatch would give the ball right back on downs at the Keith 28. Two plays later, the Bears were on the scoreboard again when Jeremy Crum fired a pass over the middle to Rodney Ellis in stride for a 72-yard touchdown. After Raheem Valazquez added the extra two, the scoreboard read 28-6 with 5:56 remaining in the half.

R.C. Hatch went three and out, giving it right back to the visiting team. This time it was all Lewis. He touched the ball every play on the drive rushing for 54 yards, capping it off with a 29-yard touchdown run.

Valazquez added the two points, making it 36-6 and Keith was now out of reach with seconds left before halftime.

If the Bears could change one quarter, they would change the third period, Keith coach Harry Crum said.

, it would be the third. Head coach Harry Crum said “we just came out flat for some reason.” The engine that was firing on all cylinders in the first half seemed to be getting low on fuel. R.C. Hatch came back out of the locker room and gave it all they had. After forcing Keith to punt, Kevin Thomas lobed a pass to wide receiver Jeremy Howard and he took it 28 yards for a score. The Bobcats forced another Keith punt but couldn’t capitalize.

Keith’s very next possession started the fourth quarter and the Bears came alive again. In two rushing attempts, Damarquis Lumpkin marched half of the field and stuck it in the end zone, scoring the Bear’s final TD. At 42-14 with roughly ten minutes left, coach Crum had ample opportunity to let some of the younger kids play. “It’s nice to be able to let em out there and get some playing time and experience,” he said. The two teams proceeded to trade punts as the clock winded down but Hatch was able to score one more time with 13 seconds left to make the final score 42-20. “This is a huge win for our program and we can still make the playoffs with a little luck; it’s very motivational” Crum said.
