Nancy Hooper

Nancy Reich Hooper passed away Monday, September 14, 2009. A
native Californian, she was the daughter of a career Marine, and the wife of a career Marine. As a
daughter and wife of Marine officers, she served her country for 43 years. She loved the Marine Corps wife.
She attended Mary Washington College of the University of Virginia and graduated from the Uni-
versity of North Carolina at Wilmington. She was a teacher in Department of Defense schools until her retirement. Subsequently she was a substitute teacher at Sealey and W. T. Moore Elementary Schools for 17 years. Nancy traveled and lived in the Far
East and enjoyed visiting Europe, especially the South of France. She
was an avid gardener and walker.
She was a member of Killearn United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Lt. Col. Harry Hooper, USMC (Ret.), sisters-in-law Sue
Mason (Michael) of Dadeville, Alabama, and Kent Woodruff(Perry) of
Selma, Alabama. She is also survived by nieces Cammie Johnston (Garrett) of Woodstock, Georgia, Caroline Woodruff of Auburn, Alabama, and Anne Woodruff of Selma.
She especially loved her great nephews Garrett, Kent, and Harry Hooper Johnston of Woodstock.
She received special love and care in her last days from her friends and
nurses, Felicia Fountain, Judy Hankin, Debbie Jackson, and Sue Mason.
A memorial service will be held at Killearn United Methodist Church at 4:00 p. m. on Friday, September
18, 2009. The family will be at home at its conclusion. Interment will be in the Hooper family plot in the Old Live Oak Cemetery in Selma, Alabama.
