James Colburn

James Clifton Colburn, 68, of Marion, Ala., went to be with his Lord August 14, 2009, at Vaughan Regional Medical Center in Selma, Ala. Mr. Colburn was born on Sept. 18, 1940 in Perry County to the late Herbert Clifton and Beatrice Perkins Colburn. Mr. Colburn was a pump engineer for Southern Natural Gas. He is survived by his loving wife, Bessie Joe Colburn; his children, Paula Whitlock of Marion, Pam Kirch of McCalla, Giner Thomas of Marion, Wanda Crews of Prattville, Thomas Aultman Jr. of Marion and Andy McNeil of Selma.
He is also survived by his sister Judy Mizell (Charles) of Marion; brother Norman Lewis of Marion; 11 grandchild, 4 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and special loved ones, Wayne and Becky Stone. Graveside services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Pine Crest Memorial Gardens in Marion with Reverend Gervis Smith officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes Marion Chapel directing. The family will receive friends Sunday night from 6-8 at Kirk Funeral Homes Marion Chapel directing.
Active pallbearers will be Keith Mizell, Jon Colburn, Robert Hoggle, Thomas Brady Colburn, Clyde Green, and Jeff Green. Honorary pallbearers will be Mayfield Richards, Terry Gregg, T.C. Hill, Steve Stephens, Cecil Stone and Ernest Barton. The family of James Colburn would like to extend a warm and sincere thank you to Dr. Beck and the staff of Bruno’s Cancer Clinic for showing love and compassion to Mr. Colburn and his family. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made in Mr. Coleman’s memory to Open Door Faith Baptist Church.
