Karen Faylese Dubose was born on her mother’s birthday, May 7, 1953. At the age of 3 she traveled from her birth home in Selma, Alabama to Queens, New York to live with her aunt, Virginia LaMarr. Karen was affectionately known as “Kay” to her relatives and friends.
Karen is preceded in death by her parents Ira and Ruth DuBose, surrogate mother, Virginia LaMarr (Auntie Ginnie) and her sister, Daphne M. Porter.
Karen leaves memories to be cherished by, her children, Kiabi and Dashan; siblings, Terrence A. Porter, Ira DuBose, Jr., Toya R. Henry (Eurtis), and Kimii V. Porter; aunt, Mrs. Naomi Randolph; special friend Daryl Williams; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
