Dr. Joseph Ruder

Dr. Joseph Martin Ruder, Sr., age 85, of Selma, AL, passed away on July 12, 2009.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn; his parents, Jacob and Anna; six brothers and three sisters.
He is survived by his son, Joe “Jody” Ruder and JoAnn.
He graduated from New Marshfield High School in 1942. He then served in the U. S. Navy and was a World War II and Korean War Veteran with honorable discharge as Hospital Corpsman Chief. He then attended Milwaukee School of Engineering and Palmer School of Chiropractic, Davenport, Iowa. Dr Ruder opened his first Chiropractic office in Cullman, AL in 1952. He move to Selma and opened his practice here in 1953, where he practiced until 1973 when he was injured in an auto accident and became unable to practice. After that, he enjoyed the rest of his retirement on his farm with his son. Funeral services will be Thursday, July 16, 2009 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church at 2:00 p.m. with Father Carrol Plourd officiating. Interment will be in Pineview Memory Gardens with Selma Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at Selma Fu-neral Home on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 for 6-8:00 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Gene York, Keith Allen, Paul Webb, Michael Eubanks, Calvin Ross and Nick Nichols.
