SIKES, Stan and Carolyn Carmack were married for 41 years. Their marriage was blessed by a daughter Riley and a son Britt. Defined by his brilliant mind and indomitable spirit, Stan reveled in political discussions and treasured his family. After attending Auburn University and graduating from the University of Alabama Law School in 1965, Stan worked as the appointments secretary to Governor Lurleen Wallace. He was chief legal counsel and senior advisor in the 1968 George Wallace presidential campaign and served as the administrative assistant to Congressman Walter Flowers in Washington, D.C. While Stan was in the practice of law in Selma, Alabama for most of his career, his proudest career achievement was as a mentor to his son Britt at U.S. Imaging Solutions in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Those who celebrate his life include his wife Carolyn; his daughter and son-in-law, Riley and Winton Blunt, III; his son and daughter-in-law, Tiffini and Britt Sikes; his grandchildren Sikes and McLeod Blount and Whit Sikes; and his brother Williams Sikes. To honor Stan, his family will gather on Sunday, June 21, Father’s Day, for a private memorial service in Fort Lauderdale.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Stan Sikes to Orlando Health Foundation allocated to M.D. Anderson, 3160 South Gate Commerce Boulevard, Suite 50, Orlando, Florida 32818.
