Willie C. “Madea” Pope, 93, of Selma, Alabama died June 15, 2009 at Vaughan Regional Hospital.
Services are scheduled for Saturday, June 20, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Shady Grove Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Buriel Beal. Burial will follow in Barker Sturdivant Cemetery under the direction of Miller Funeral Service.
Survivors include sons, George (Robbie) Sturdivant, Drayton (Beatrice) Sturdivant, James (Doris) Pope, Charles (Rosie) Pope, and Robert (Mary) Pope; daughters, Willie P. Ulmer, Doris Pope, Velma (Dennis) Gee, and Mary (Levi) Tolbert; devoted niece, Lela Mae Williams; fifty-two grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; two sons-in-law; five daughters-in-law; three nieces; one nephew; and friends, extended family, the Lewis Family, and a special friend, Alice Irby.
