Sarah Wilson Powers, 78, of Albany, passed away June 16, 2009 at her home.
Funeral Services honoring the life of Mrs. Powers will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 20, 2009, at Morningside United Methodist Church with Rev. Tom Davis officiating. Entombment will follow in Crown Hill Mausoleum.
Sarah Wilson Powers was born on January 28, 1931 in Selma, AL.; to the late William H. Wilson and Lenna Moreland Wilson. She was the widow of the late John James Powers who preceded her in death on February 17, 2004. She had lived in Albany since 1963 and was a member of Morningside United Methodist Church having served in many areas of the Church. She retired from civil service at the Marine Logistics Base and was formally employed with Albany Telephone Answering Service after many years of dedicated service.
She was a former member of the Country Cousins and Rafter Rockers Square Dance Clubs and The Garden Club of Albany.
In addition to her parents and her husband her sister, Betty Supple, preceded Mrs. Powers in death.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Mary Jane Powers of Tucson, AZ.; Glenn and Marcia Powers of Woodstock, GA.; Tim and Heidi Powers of Leesburg, GA.; grandchildren, Jeff Powers, Jennifer Powers Zila and her husband, Jonathon, Elizabeth Powers Noel and her husband, Shake, J.R Powers and Erin Powers; one great-grandchild, Haven Zila; sister, Lottie Wilson and sister-in-law, Barbara Fortenbury of Ft. Walton Beach, FL.; and several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Morningside United Methodist Church, 121 S. Mock Road Albany Georgia 31705.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m., today, Friday, June 19, 2009 at Hall &Hall Funeral Home.
